  • Pick songs that give you power and energy to conquer the world when you feel tired!

5. Waking up early, go to bed early!

6. Take what you want, not what you’re given!

6 Most Common Back Handed Compliments

I read a few articles pointing fingers at Barbie for the cause of eating disorders, and Matel is being sued. I know it can’t solely be Matel’s fault,  so I did some research on how eating disorders really get started and it’s pretty interesting.

“There is no single cause for eating disorders. Although concerns about weight and body shape play a role in all eating disorders, the actual cause of these disorders appear to result from many factors, including cultural and family pressures and emotional and personality disorders. Genetics and biologic factors may also play a role.”- University of Maryland

Cultural & family pressures plays a huge role in the cause of eating disorders

I lived in Hong Kong till I was a teenager and without a doubt it is an amazing city. Its superior sense of trend, food you crave and glorious scenery will definitely make you want to visit over and over again. However the longer I was there, I notice something. I noticed many of the locals’ conversation starters were a bit offensive in my opinion, and it could be one of the main causes of eating disorders, stress and high suicide rates in Asia. Here are some examples:

  • “Long time no see! You’ve gone fatter 🙂 “
  • “Nice bag 😀 ! Is that fake? It looks fake 😀 “
  • “So skinny 😀 ! You’re husband doesn’t feed you? :D”
  • “It’s been a long time! *Hug* You look so much older! Look at all them fish-tail lines next to your eyes :D”
  • “Waaa! You must be making lots of money! Look how fat you are :D”
  • “Looking good, but I think my son is much taller than you :D”

I love Hong Kong and would love to stay, but it’s these back handed, unexpected insult-greets that I can never get used to. It’s messed up and it’s annoying after a while.

Growing up is as stressful as it is. We shouldn’t  make it even harder.

I want people to be able to have the same opportunity to live in a more positive environment! I want this silly culture to stop. I want us to appreciate ourselves more and eliminate the insecurities we have within.

I need your help to spread the positive energy. I started to give 1 compliment a day. Find something good within a person you encounter, and appreciate them by a compliment 🙂 A little good goes a long way.  Thank you so much for reading, and together we can make a difference. May no one have to suffer anymore ♥
